Recently my entire garden got destroyed.
I had built my garden over about three years. Each of the three years I planted between 3-5 different seed. Sometimes they grew, sometimes they didn't.
Aside from starting with seeds (mostly, I did additionally plant some tulips & Easter lilies I was given) my goal was to grow plants that would be self sustained, and then would re-grow the following year. Ultimately I hoped to have multiple plants from different starting years, coming up in additional years, and ultimately would have enough different plants that watching them grow each year would be enjoyable, and give me pleasure from spring to winter.
For a variety of reasons, it's virtually impossible for me to water my plants, so I was growing plants that would be sustains by the rains. That means I plant my seeds in May, late enough so they would not die from a frost, and would be germinated by the spring rains. The once germinated they also needed to be hearty enough to survive without additional by hand watering.
With my garden having been destroyed in mid-July, I now have to wait about 10 month till next May before I can plant new seeds and start the garden in the way I had been doing things.
So, from now till then I'm going to be experimenting with my garden, and will be reporting on events as I go along.
