It's been a dream of mine for years that during the year end holiday season schools and churches in Nutley would open up their auditoriums & sanctuaries all on the same night, and everyone in town could walk to their closest school or church, and all could watch this movie on giant screens as one big community and sing-along to the songs. And for one night at least in Nutley song & joy would be shared throughout the entire town.
The musical version of Scrooge is available to watch, in it's entire musical glory, on YouTube.
This is the 1970 musical version of the Charles Dickens' story, A Christmas Carol, directed by Ronald Neame. Not some other crappy version that you probably want to interrupt this rant to tell me about, so just shut your pie hole and talk to the hand.
This movie has been a tradition for me since I was a tiny little baby human.
It's the 1970 version with Albert Finney as the lead.
It's such a part of my being that I will sometimes even watch it in the middle of the summer. I would not advise this to the average user, until you are more experienced at the art of happiness.
I should point out that, while many are familiar with the story, this musical version is the one true gospel, all other versions are heresy and I will not tolerate any feedback on why your particular version is better. Imagine me holding up my hand in the gesture of "talk to the hand" popular a few / many years ago if you start back-talking. It is the music that is the magical element here.
I have a dozen or so pieces of universal advice for humans, and one of them is to watch this movie at least once a year, ideally on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and/or New Years eve, and so, I take this opportunity to give you this advice, unsolicited, shamelessly, in the hopes that it can increase the happiness of your life at least 19.657%, and in the hopes that one day you too will spread this gospel of good news.
